Peaceful Cottage on the Water ~ Sauna Cabin, Kayaks, SUP Board, Canoe & more!
10/10 Excellent
"If you are considering staying here, don't hesitate - book it!Our stay was excellent, I can't say more about the peacefulness and tranquility on the pond. Also, had all the amenities available if we wanted to partake in any activities. We used the kayaks, my first time ever, had a blast! The loons on the pond were so fun to watch and listen to, there is nothing like it. We also spotted a deer at the opposite end of the pond. The sauna in the little cabin was an added bonus - such a cute little place to go and unwind even more. The beds were incredibly comfortable - both in the downstairs bedroom and in the loft.We took the short hike to Lampson Falls, it was just perfect for us. A short walk through the woods on a nice wide, flat trail and the falls were beautiful. Had dinner the 2 E's in Edwards, it was very good and the staff were very friendly. We wanted to check out the Wayside Roadhouse, but unfortunately they were closed that day. Looked like a fun place to grab a drink. If I had to make any suggestions at all, I would say that the TV selection was a bit lacking, but I assume the options are limited. There IS a DVD player there, so I might suggest to bring some movies. We had an absolute wonderful time and wished we could of stayed longer. Teresa & Chris were excellent hosts, making sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely return and hope to do so.Thank You, Teresa & Chris!"

Lakefront Charming 3-bedroom cottage on beautiful Cranberry Lake
10/10 Excellent
"This is a cozy property on a beautiful lake. My family and I loved that there were kayaks, a canoe and a rowboat to use. The pet friendly aspect was a huge draw for us as we like to travel with our dogs when we can."
"This is a beautiful property with lots to do and exceptional privacy. It was clean and comfortable. The description of the water access was deceiving. There wasn’t swimming access at the dock. It had lots of floating algae and was mucky with sick and leaf debris. A 4 person boat was provided and that was a life saver. However it was quite an adventure shutting 14 people out for a place to swim on a 4 person boat. The owner were very responsive and had interactive scavenger hunts and games."
"We loved our stay and loved that our dog could share the experience with us. Everything was just as described. The beds were super comfortable, and the views were amazing. The host was very helpful and responsive."
The best area to stay in Newton Falls is directly within the village centre, particularly around the main intersection of Main Street and High Street.
This central area offers convenient access to the village's primary amenities and the scenic beauty of the Oswegatchie River. You'll find a selection of local eateries and shops within a short stroll, and it serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding Adirondack wilderness.
For couples seeking a quiet retreat with easy access to nature, staying close to the river in the village centre is ideal. You can enjoy riverside walks, perhaps even try some local fishing, and be within easy reach of hiking trails in the nearby state forests.
When is the best time to go to Newton Falls?
The best time to visit Newton Falls is during the summer months, from June to August, and the early autumn, specifically September and early October.
Summer offers the warmest weather, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and boating on the Oswegatchie River or nearby lakes. The days are long, and the natural beauty of the Adirondacks is at its peak. This is great for families looking to enjoy nature and outdoor adventures together.
Early autumn provides stunning foliage as the leaves change colour, creating picturesque landscapes. The weather is generally crisp and pleasant for exploring, and it's a fantastic time for scenic drives or gentle walks. This period is particularly appealing to couples seeking a peaceful and beautiful getaway.
While winter has its own charm with opportunities for snow sports, access can be more challenging due to heavy snowfall, and many seasonal businesses might be closed.
